It’s finally official: Windows Live (also known as MSN), the internet service released by Microsoft in the late nineties, will close definitively within 5 months to give more powers to Skype. The instant messaging software bought by Microsoft on May 10th, 2011 will probably incorporate some new features (it’s not clear whether they will be services directly taken from MSN or something totally different) and VoIP service will be further improved by Redmond’s technicians. It’s a premature end for the messaging client (Windows Live Messenger: its first version was released in 1999) and the beginning of a new prosperous era (it’s what Microsoft hopes), which will expose whether the “historic” monopolist in the field of computer is still the “only one” or it’ll be forced to give points to the roaring competitors.
